This plant is a liana which can be found in the jungle amongst dense vegetation, just like in this place. Chuyachaqui is a guardian spirit and jungle protector. As I explained earlier, the same plants are used differently in various locations. Spanish name of this liana is sapouaska. It provides resin used to cure wounds and infections. The resin is used to cure stomach pain, kidney and bladder diseases.
In Shipibo culture the plant is called tapicmanasho un tapiti, which means “the ladder of a turtle”. Some ayahuasca manufacturers don’t put enough ayahuasca in the brew, adding this plant instead. As a result, the effect of the brew would be much different. It is important to be very careful and use the product only from trusted source.
