
This plant is called ishanga. It has a lot of thorns and usually grows in the jungle. Ishanga is used for the relief of acute and severe pain, swelling legs, joint pains and rheumatism.
How to use: we cut a branch and hit the sore spot with it, and pain is gone. This procedure is a bit painful and it causes itch, however, it kills the pain and reduces inflammation. The effect can be compared with simultaneous bite of a hundred bees.
Indigenous people sometimes scare obstinate children with ishanga, threatening them to be spanked with thorny branch. Ishanga has a variety of applications, but the major one is pain relief.
